About Word Tiles

Word Tiles is a calm spelling game set beside a koi pond. Each level gives you a three-by-three board of letter tiles and a short list of hidden words to find. You spell a word by swiping across neighboring tiles, and when you get it right the word fills its row in the answer grid at the top of the screen.

The first level, Garden Gate, is a good example. The board holds the letters S, U, N, P, T, E, O, T and A, and the game nudges you to swipe S-U-N to find your first word. From there you look for two more words to reach Words 3 / 3. Every tile also carries a small number in its corner, which hints at how much that letter is worth to your score.

Stars are earned for clean play. The panel on the left shows three stars and a line that reads No wrong guesses yet, so careful players who think before they swipe keep the full set. That gives the game a gentle tension: you can try anything, but each miss has a small cost.

Finding the hidden words is only half of it. A Bonus Words panel on the right says to spell any other real word to drop a seed in the jar. The seed jar fills up to five, and it is shown again at the top of the screen. So a board like Garden Gate pays you for exploring: words such as POT, TEA, or TOP are worth a try even if they are not on the answer list.

The art is soft and peaceful, with lily pads, a waterfall, a stone lantern and pink blossoms around the pond. Later stages unlock at levels 3, 6, 10 and 15. It plays free in your browser on a computer, or on a phone turned sideways, and a level takes only a few minutes, which suits a short break.

Each board is small, but the letters can be read in many directions, so the same nine tiles hide more words than you first expect. Swiping slowly and saying each letter in your head helps you avoid a wrong guess. Once the three answer rows are full, a good challenge is to go back and fill the seed jar too, hunting for every short real word the board allows.

The game also works as quiet spelling practice for kids, since the first words are short and the swipe hint shows exactly how to start.
