About Royal Gambit
Royal Gambit is a free chess game for your browser. Instead of a single match, you climb the Royal Ladder, a series of steps where each one is a new opponent at the board.
Your first opponent is Pip the Page, at step 1. Press Play and the game takes you straight to the next step you have not beaten yet. The Ladder button shows the whole climb, so you can see which opponents are still waiting for you.
Further up there is more than straight games. A Riddles mode opens at step 4 of the ladder, and the crown counter in the top left corner keeps track of the crowns you have earned.
Stats records how your games went, and How to play explains the rules and moves for players who are new to chess. Royal Gambit works with a mouse on a computer or with taps on a phone or tablet.
