About Word Groups Solitaire

Word Groups Solitaire mixes a card table with a word puzzle. Instead of sorting cards by suit and number, you sort words by what they mean. A group card names a theme, such as Colors, and every word that belongs to that theme has to end up stacked on it. When a group is complete it counts toward the goal shown on the left of the screen, which starts at 0 / 3 in the tutorial.

The table looks like a classic patience layout. Three slots along the top hold the groups, each marked with a crown until a group card claims it. Below them sit columns of word cards, and a deck in the corner holds the cards you have not seen yet. The tutorial keeps the words simple: Blue, Green, Cow and Milk. Blue and Green clearly go with Colors, while Cow and Milk are waiting for a group of their own.

The interesting part is that a word can fit more than one idea. Milk is a drink, but it is also white, and it also comes from a cow. The game rewards you for spotting the theme the puzzle maker had in mind, not just any link. That makes each round a small piece of lateral thinking dressed up as a relaxed card game.

Every drag and every draw from the deck uses one move. In the tutorial the move counter says Free, so you can learn the rules without pressure. Later levels, which unlock at level 3, 5, 8 and 12, show a lock on the bar at the bottom, so the challenge grows as you go. Coins are counted at the top of the screen.

The pace is calm. There is no timer in the tutorial frames, and a large How to play panel stays open on the right with the four rules written out. If you like word association, card solitaire or quiet puzzles that you can play in short sittings, this one sits right between them. It runs free in your browser on a computer or a phone held sideways, with nothing to install.

A good habit is to read the whole table before your first move. Count how many group slots are free, note which words are already showing, and think about which themes they might share. Since the deck hides the rest of the cards, it pays to keep columns tidy so that a newly drawn word always has somewhere sensible to land. Finishing a group frees up space, which makes the next groups easier to reach.

Tips for Word Groups Solitaire

  • Before moving anything, say each word out loud and guess which themes are on the table.
  • Keep a word in the columns if its group card has not appeared yet, instead of drawing again.
  • Watch for words with two meanings; place them last, once the other groups are clear.
