About Tricky Story
Tricky Story is a puzzle game told one day at a time. Each level shows a scene where something has gone wrong, and you set it right by working out what every character needs and dragging the right object to them. The story is light and funny, and the puzzles lean on logic more than speed.
Day 1 starts in a sunny kitchen with a worried girl in a red dress saying: Oh no! Silly trouble in the kitchen! The banner reads Help the hungry ones. Baby Leo is crying on the floor and a puppy is sitting beside him, and on the tiles lie a milk bottle and a bone. The counter on the left says Fixed: 0 / 2, so both of them need help.
The first move is spelled out in a speech bubble: give the milk bottle to baby Leo by dragging it with your finger. After that you are on your own. The game also has a Silly tip card with the main rule of the series: if someone looks grumpy, tap them and they tell you what they need.
Helper items unlock as you progress: a Hint Bulb at level 2, X-ray Specs at level 4, an Alarm Clock at level 6 and Fix-it Tape at level 10. Their names suggest the later days get trickier, with hidden objects and more steps. A reset button sits in the top corner if you want to start a day over.
The art is bright and warm, with a cottage street framing the scene. Tricky Story suits younger players who are learning cause and effect, and anyone who enjoys short, kind puzzles with a story. It is free to play in your browser on a computer or a phone held sideways.
Each day is a small story with a clear goal, so it is easy to tell how close you are to finishing. The counter shows how many problems are fixed and how many remain, and the banner reminds you what the day is about. In Day 1 the theme is hunger, which makes it simple to connect each character to the food that suits them: milk for the baby and a bone for the puppy.
Tapping characters to hear what they need is a nice touch, because it rewards curiosity. Players who poke around the scene first usually solve the day faster than players who start dragging objects at random.
Later days are likely to add more characters and more steps, which is where the helper items come in handy.
