About Word Deal Solitaire
Word Deal Solitaire is a word solitaire game with category cards, free in your browser on a phone or a computer, with no download. It swaps suits and numbers for words. Every card on the table carries a single word such as Plum, Panda, Piano or Flute, and the gold cards name a category such as Fruit or Music.
To begin a pile, drag a gold category card into an empty slot at the top. Then drop the words that belong to it onto that card. A small counter above each category shows how far along it is, for example 3/4 when one fruit is still missing.
Some words are hidden in face-down stacks, so you have to clear the cards on top before you can see what lies underneath. When the columns run dry, the deck in the corner deals more cards; its badge shows how many deals are left, so it pays to place every card you can before you tap it.
A short tutorial explains each rule with a hint panel on the left, one move at a time. The whole table sits on a dark blue night sky with stars and a crescent moon.
The tutorial builds the game up one idea at a time. First you drag the MUSIC card into an empty slot and drop Flute onto it; the hint then points out that Piano makes music too. Later it asks you to open a second category, DRINKS, in the free slot, where a card such as Milk belongs. Words that do not fit any open category have to wait in their columns until the right gold card is out.
Each category needs all of its words before it is complete. FRUIT, for example, waits at 3/4 until its last fruit turns up, and MUSIC counts up from 0/4 as you add Flute and Piano. Because there are only a few free slots at the top, choosing which category to open next is the real decision in every deal.
You play by dragging cards with a mouse or a finger, on a computer or a phone held sideways. There is nothing to install and no account to make.
