About Paper Turf

Paper Turf is a territory game played on a craft-paper desk. You steer a little paper critter around the board, and the trail you leave behind turns into your own turf. Close a loop back to your area and everything inside it is yours. The more of the board you claim, the higher you climb.

The first level is called First Fold, and it gives you a ninety-second timer to claim as much ground as you can. A bar at the top shows your share of the board as a percentage, and a small leaderboard on the side shows where you stand against the other critters on the desk.

Steering is easy to learn. Drag anywhere on the screen to point your critter in a new direction, or use the arrow keys on a keyboard. Your critter keeps moving on its own, so the challenge is choosing where to go and when to turn back home.

Every trip outside your turf is a small risk. While your trail is open, rival critters can cut across it, and a quick return to your own area keeps your gains safe. Short, careful loops are safer, while long, wide loops claim a lot of ground at once if you can bring them home.

The craft-paper look gives the game its own style. The board looks like colored paper laid out on a desk, and each critter carries its own color across the map. It is easy to read at a glance, so you can see your turf, your trail and your rivals all at once.

A Critters button lets you browse the paper animals you can play as. Each one has its own look, so you can pick a favorite and take it into every round.

Rounds are short, which makes Paper Turf easy to replay. Each attempt teaches you a little more about when to push out and when to head home, and the percentage bar makes every bit of progress easy to see.

Your trail is the risky part of every move. While you are outside your own turf, the line you leave behind is open, so short trips that close quickly are safer than long loops across the whole desk. Bigger loops claim more paper at once, but they also take longer to finish, which makes each choice a small gamble between speed and safety.

Paper Turf runs in the browser on computers, phones and tablets. Fold your first loop, claim the desk and see how much of the board your critter can turn into its own turf before the clock runs out.
